Check Latin spelling and Hebrew letters separately

David and דוד are two separate inputs here. This is a spelling check, not translation; the calculator does not establish that two spellings name the same person or have the same meaning.

These three values come from the same Jewish (Latin) table above. Keeping the spelling and method together makes the calculation repeatable; the sums carry no religious interpretation here.

Good to know

Not Hebrew script

This table counts English letters. Use the Hebrew calculator for Hebrew script.

Large letter values

J, V and W can dominate a total. Check their assignments in the table above.

Accents are skipped

Only A–Z count. Accented letters are skipped, along with spaces, digits and punctuation.

Shared totals

Two words with the same total share a numerical value in this table; interpretation remains with you and your tradition.

Read the full explanation

The Jewish cipher here is a modern Latin A–Z mapping, not the Hebrew letter table. Check its assignments against Gematrix’s displayed Jewish mapping and compare character handling before comparing totals from different tools.

Enter a name or phrase and select the Jewish row. Names follow the same addition rule as other words. Count every supported letter, including repeats; case does not matter. Spaces, digits, punctuation and accented Latin characters are skipped. The calculator does not translate text.

Open the letter breakdown to reproduce the sum. A shared link preserves the exact spelling. Concordance searches an independent, limited list, sorted by SCOWL commonness tier, then shorter entries and alphabetical order. Free results show five matches. Record the spelling and selected table when comparing entries.

Check the Gematrix Jewish mapping against the values above.

Frequently asked questions

Contact support: [email protected]
Is Jewish gematria the same as Hebrew gematria?

Here, Jewish names a Latin A–Z table. Hebrew uses Hebrew letters and Mispar Hechrachi values. The calculators show these separately.

Why does W add 900?

This table assigns W = 900. J = 600 and V = 700 are also part of the defined mapping; they are not ordinal positions.

Do spaces or numbers count?

No. Only letters in this cipher's table contribute. Spaces, punctuation, and digits are ignored.
